Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves has announced that the Argyle International Airport has been given the necessary go ahead to start operations at the Argyle International Airport.
Speaking at a press conference on Monday January 23, 2017, the Prime Minister said he was handed a letter from the Eastern Caribbean Civil Aviation Authority (ECCAA) that very morning, by the person in charge of Civil Aviation matters Permanent Secretary Godfred Pompey, indicating that the organization has given the go ahead to the Argyle International Airport to commence operations as at one minute past midnight on February 14, 2017.
With the date for the start of operations at the Argyle International Airport set for February 14th 2017, the race is on to have everything in place to facilitate this long anticipated opening.
With this in mind, Vincentians at home and abroad and visitors alike are now asking what international airlines if any will be coming to the destination? According to CEO of the Tourism Authority Glen Beache, at least to charters have been confirmed to land at the Argyle International Airport on February 14th, and he is currently having talks with other airlines to begin operating scheduled flights from Argyle International by June 2017.
